Exploration Plan

So I've been giving some more thought about how I'd like to progress my exploration career. I'm a definite fan on one ship fits all rather than looking at flying to a station to reship. From looking around this looks like T3, mostly Tengus. Since I'm piloting Amarr at the moment and plan staying that way since I like their ships I started looking for legion fits. The plan to get there though is 100+ days which is excessive. I decided to go via Cov Ops and Recon ships to make some progress along the way.

I'm enjoying my exploration-fest so I looked at a few Anathema and Pilgrim fits. All in all the plan totals about 140 days after optimising based on one remap, I'm currently maxed on Intelligence then Memory so limited to support skills first. I'm still toying with the decision of throwing in an earlier remap to Perception and Willpower and then back to Int/Mem so I can realistically upgrade my ship sooner. The problem here is that I'm left with my attributes as Int/Mem where I think I'd prefer to be left with P/W so I can max ship/combat skills. I might crack and get bored before the 80 days of flying my Magnate concludes, ah to buy remaps!

Exploration Mining - Magnametric Sites

So I took out my Niamh Starlight, my explorer, out to test my scanning mettle in a ghetto Magnate. I started by fitting a couple of salvage modules and scanning out mission runners. I started using the combat scanner probes in a well run mission hub (there were three L4 agents).

I only found one site where I found a Drake missioning. It took me a while to scan this guy down using the combat probes but there were a few signals in the system. It was quite boring in all honesty and not great money which I think was more important. If I'd earned more money I'd have been content but the wrecks (and there were a lot) were not really worth anything of much value. The rate I was able to salvage in a Magnate played a large part in the lack of profits. Had I a dedicated salvage destroyer I might have been able to increase my success.  I didn't want to spend much time on ship skills at this point so I decided to have another look at what I could do.

Since Roscoe Tightpants (miner) was skilled up to exhumers I thought I'd start having a look for Gravametric sites which I was lucky enough to find quite quickly. I took our my Retriever out into the Omber field and started mining. After a while some jamming frig rats turned up and started bugging me (they didn't do too much damage to my Retriever but the jamming was infuriating. My combat skills on either character were pretty dire (including drone skills) so it took me a while to handle these but eventually cleared them. They seemed to respawn after about 20 minutes or so.

All in all, I enjoyed scanning out the Grav site then mining it, someone else did turn up while I was dealing with the rats so this obviously effects the profit of this site. I did manage to get about 50-60k Omber (Gold, Silver and standard). I'm led to believe Grav sites are hard to consistently find but I'm going to have another look today and see how it goes.

I may start having a look at Radar and Mag sites to see how the hacking and archaeology is. I'm probably going to be hampered by my lack of combat skills again. I'm keen to get a decent spread of exploration skills to about three and then remap to Perception / Willpower and get some PvE combat skills up, get at least a Cov Ops and maybe even a recon or more.

Alt Mania

So I've been playing eve since 2008 with my main PVP character but I've had such a hard time finding a decent consistent PVP corp with a good set of goals that are being worked towards. I'm still keeping the faith for the right corp to land in.

Until that happens though I decided to start a second account looking at mining and production. Been training for about 30 days or so now to get into a mining barge and queuing the skills for a exhumer. I haven't really been out mining much yet though beyond the starter missions. I don't like jet-can mining and the frequent station trips are a bore so it's time to buy a retriever and get amongst the action.

But then came back the power of two and I wanted to start an exploration/PI alt which is also now in training. This blog plans to follow all three characters and their pod-gression and growth.

Back in the mix!
